AERO partnered with services across New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia to learn about using a deliberate and structured approach to implementation to deepen the evidence-based practice of assessment for learning.
This paper shares our learnings from the 2025 iteration of the early childhood education and care (ECEC) Learning Partner project. Drawing on data from monitoring and evaluation processes involving Implementation Coordinators (service leaders), head office support staff and AERO Implementation Consultants, it highlights 3 key insights about what matters most when implementing evidence-based practice in ECEC, including:
- stages of implementation
- choice of implementation strategies
- leadership.
Since this was our first time partnering with Exceeding-rated services, this paper also shares some early insights from our work with these services.
These insights offer evidence-informed perspectives for leaders seeking to strengthen the implementation of evidence-based practices in their services.
