This 10 to 15 minute microcourse explores a deliberate and structured approach to implementation, and how this approach can support lasting change in teaching practices. It is designed for all school leaders and members of school implementation teams.

Have you ever sought to implement a teaching practice and thought it would work, but it didn't last?

Do you think the processes your school uses to implement teaching practices are effective?

Have you ever considered a different approach?

This 10 to 15 minute microcourse explores a deliberate and structured approach to implementation, and how this approach can support lasting change in teaching practices. It is designed for all school leaders and members of school implementation teams. Even experienced school leaders may find new elements to add to their implementation leadership.

The microcourse includes:

  • a short animation illustrating a deliberate and structured approach
  • a case study (with video montages) from a secondary school in Queensland
  • optional interactive activities that further explain key concepts.

As a short online course, this resource offers a starting point for school implementation staff who would prefer an overview before exploring more detailed resources. For practical resources, see our Implementation in Schools: Practical Resources collection.

This microcourse will help principals demonstrate proficiency against the Australian Professional Standard for Principals (PDF, 1.75 MB) in terms of 3 of the Professional Practices (Leading teaching and learning, Developing self and others and Leading improvement, innovation and change) and 2 of the Leadership Requirements (Knowledge and understanding and Personal qualities, social and interpersonal skills).

It will also help middle leaders demonstrate proficiency against the Australian Professional Standards for Middle Leaders (PDF, 876 KB) Standards 2a, 2b, 2c, 4b, 5a, 5b, 5c and 6e.
