Students can use compound sentences to express multiple thoughts, provide detail and depth, and efficiently convey meaning in their writing.

This guide is the second in a series designed to help teachers explain and demonstrate the fundamentals of writing to their students. It builds on the knowledge provided by the first guide.

This guide provides clear grammatical definitions, and unpacks the features of compound sentences and how they function. It also offers examples and practice activities teachers can use in the classroom.
