AERO’s deliberate and structured approach to implementation is designed to support effective implementation in Australian schools. This discussion paper and A3 summary detail why implementation matters and how AERO’s approach has been developed, tested and refined.

Effective implementation of evidence-based teaching practices in schools has the potential to benefit all Australian students.

To support effective implementation, the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) has developed a deliberate and structured approach that can strengthen how implementation teams think about and lead implementation efforts in their schools.

This foundational discussion paper provides a detailed account of the development of our deliberate and structured approach to implementation, including by:

  • explaining why effective implementation is important
  • outlining how we developed this approach and worked alongside schools and regional system teams to test and refine it
  • suggesting next steps for AERO, school leaders, policymakers, regional system teams and researchers in this collective, ongoing work.

The A3 summary provides a quick version of the content in the discussion paper.
