We undertake research that helps us achieve our goal of excellence and equity in education for all Australian children and young people through effective use of evidence.
In consultation with education professionals, policymakers and researchers across Australia, we develop and prioritise research projects based on greatest potential impact and greatest need. Some projects are conducted internally and some are conducted as commissions or partnerships with others.
AERO’s broad areas of research interest are outlined below. If you would like to suggest a topic or area that AERO should prioritise, please submit suggestions here.

effective - An educational approach is effective if it causes (see causation above) a desired change in a particular outcome. This desired change can be an increase in an outcome (for example, increases in student achievement) or it can be a decrease in an outcome (for example, reduction in student absenteeism).
