Building on family engagement practice guides for early childhood, primary, secondary school levels, AERO has released a new suite of promising approaches audit tools, family engagement implementation checklists and case studies.

Professional learning can play an important role in supporting teachers and educators to develop the skills and knowledge needed to improve outcomes for children. But we’re yet to fully understand the critical features that make professional learning effective.  

Using evidence-based practices in the classroom is easier said than done. There is broad consensus in the research community that certain practices such as formative assessment and explicit instruction improve student outcomes. But these practices are often complex and hard to implement, involving many different elements.

The Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) and Ochre Education have today launched 75 free secondary science lessons and nearly 300 resources to support effective evidence-based practices.
